What We Publish
This isn’t a place for “content.”
We publish tactical manifestos, strategic confessions, investigative firebombs, and psychological autopsies of broken systems. If it’s just interesting, we pass. If it hurts to write but tells the truth, we’ll probably greenlight it.
We are especially interested in:
- Takedowns of marketing dogma and vendor manipulation
- First-person confessions from inside the machine
- Tactical playbooks that expose better ways, not just critique
- Essays that make marketers feel seen—and make executives uncomfortable
- Crossovers: SaaS, cybersecurity, privacy, AI, performance collapse, sales dysfunction
What We Reject Without Blinking
- Thought leadership dressed in rebellion cosplay
- Unverifiable claims with zero source or context
- “Here’s what I learned” LinkedIn platitudes
- Anything that has “ROI” in the title
- Thinly veiled SaaS promotion
- Rage without intent
Tone + Voice Expectations
Your piece must read like it was carved out of conviction.
It can be brutal, poetic, funny, terrifying—but never safe.
You’re writing to dismantle something real.
We’ll edit for clarity, never for conformity.
Format Guidelines
- Length: 2,500 to 5,000 words ideally
- Format: Google Doc or Notion link, viewable by anyone
- Media: No images or videos. Plain text only.
- Disclosure: If you work for a vendor or agency, say so upfront. If you work for or represent a martech vendor, do not waste your time—or ours.
- Disclaimer:
- While we encourage unique, subjective perspectives, all submissions are required to provide verifiable proof and of any claims made—no exceptions. When in doubt, cite your sources.
Editorial Process
- You submit it.
- We read it.
- If we like it, we'll talk.
- As time is limited, silence is our “no".
- If it gets in, it gets published on Burn It Down with your name (or Alias), full credit, and a proper spotlight drop.
Anonymous or Pseudonymous?
If you’re inside a company and you want to write under cover, we’ll protect your identity. We’ve already built systems for whistleblower content. Just flag it in your submission.
